Disciplinary and transversal Trainings

Doctoral student will have access to a catalogue of disciplinary (in SSH and health themes) and transversal trainings. They will compose their individual training plan from this catalogue, and they must follow Breath specific trainings in SSH and in Health with an equal weight in the training plan.

The initial programme of a traditional PhD is to participate to a minimum amount of 100 hours. Within Breath, mandatory specific network wide events will complement this initial programme reaching a total of more than 200 hours training during their 3 years project.

Secondments

Secondments in international and intersectoral organisation(s) is a compulsory part of the training programme. This secondment will last at least 3 months. The secondment organisations can be either choose from the network of the consortium’s members or can be proposed by the doctorate student and/or his/her supervisor depending on the thesis subjects and the research need.

Triple supervision

One of the specific features of the Breath programme is the triple supervision with one supervisor from Health discipline, one from SSH and another one, with whom the doctoral student could have a 3-month mandatory secondment from either international or intersectoral entity or both.

Breath is by essence an interdisciplinary programme offering unique PhD topics obligatory combining SSH and Health and a 3-I secondment. The Breath programme innovates by going beyond multidisciplinary approaches to place itself in a real interdisciplinary context.
